laser EpiTouch and AURORA is the most modern
device emitting a soft beam of rays which
penetrates through skin as deep as hair follicle.
There it is absorbed by skin pigment - melanin.
Laser energy is changed into heat which destroys
hair bulb leaving the skin unchanged. Traditional
methods of hair removing such as shaving,
plucking out or wax bring temporary effects.
Until now the only treatment destroying hair bulb
is electrolysis (cauterization with electric
needle). This procedure is painful, time
consuming and limited to small surfaces. It
causes frequent complications such as scars,
irritation and ingrowing hair. Instead, laser
removes hair absolutely safe and does not damage
skin. Light beam operates on limited depth and
does not penetrate into the system, thanks to
which its action is only local. There are no
general contraindications against laser therapy.
Each
treatment is different. It depends on the type of
skin, depilated surface, quantity, thickness and
colour of hair. Treatment is preceded by a test
in order to adjust optimum efficient energy. A
physician covers the skin with protective gel
which by cooling decreases the feeling of pain.
On the limited area he performs depilation and
waits for a few minutes. In case of legs and back
it is recommended to wait for a few days. Then
the treatment can be performed on a wider surface.
Short laser impulses are felt as gentle pinching.
The duration of treatment depends on the kind of
depilated surface. On face it lasts for about 10
minutes. On thighs it can last up to 2 hours.
What should
be remembered before and after the treatment?
- Before treatment the skin
cannot be freshly tanned. Sun-tan
decreases efficiency of depilation and
causes possibility of burns and
discolourations
- About two week before the
treatment all other methods of depilation
should be abandoned
- After treatment a temporary
reddening can appear and last from
several hours to a few days. Cool
compresses and mild moistening cosmetic
formulas can be used. Ointments and
powders are not recommended.
- The fragment of hair
remaining in destroyed hair bulb will
come out naturally in a few days.
Laser
depilation is permanent, but it applies only to
actually growing hair. It should be remembered
that in our skin there are hair bulb in state of
"sleep" which are not destroyed during
the treatment. That's why the treatment should be
repeated in several months' intervals.
